Kage: Darui The Fifth Raikage

Darui is a shinobi of Kumogakure and the right-hand-man of the Fourth Raikage, whom he later succeeds as the Fifth Raikage.

Background

Darui was a student of the Third Raikage and learned the unique black lightning technique. He, along with C, supported the Third Raikage. In the anime, when Konohagakure and Sunagakure unexpectedly invited other villages to a joint Chūnin Exams, the Fourth Raikage became very angry. He believed it was a sneaky plan to attack Kumogakure. The Fourth Raikage refused Tsunade's offer, but Darui told him that he had already informed Killer B about it. The Fourth Raikage quickly instructed Darui and C to stop B, who was already on his way to the exams, from attending.

Personality

Darui is a relaxed and easygoing person. He often makes lighthearted comments, like when he jokes about using the door instead of a dramatic exit through a window like the Fourth Raikage. He speaks in a lazy and slow manner, often calling things "dull," which is a play on his own name. Despite his laid-back demeanor, Darui is not lazy. He defended the Fourth Raikage when others reacted to the Raikage's actions, showing his loyalty. Darui is also very apologetic, even apologizing for other people's actions. He addresses the Fourth Raikage as "boss" and is fiercely loyal to him. Darui was entrusted with important responsibilities, such as leading the First Division. He is understanding and defended Naruto when he was late to a meeting, acknowledging the busy life of a Kage. Darui maintains his relaxed attitude even in formal situations, as seen during the Kage meeting where he sat casually.

Abilities

Darui is a very skilled and talented ninja. He was selected by the Fourth Raikage to be his bodyguard and right-hand man, showing his abilities and trustworthiness. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he was appointed as the leader of the First Division in the Allied Shinobi Forces. Darui's exceptional abilities were demonstrated when he almost single-handedly defeated the powerful Gold and Silver Brothers, who possessed the legendary Treasured Tools of the Sage of Six Paths. With his continued growth, Darui eventually became the Fifth Raikage, further highlighting his remarkable skills and accomplishments.

Physical and Chakra Prowess

Darui has displayed impressive speed, showcasing his ability to work together with the Fourth Raikage to launch a coordinated attack on Taka. He also demonstrated his skill by protecting C from a surprise attack by Suigetsu. When he became the Raikage, his taijutsu abilities were compared to those of Naruto and Sasuke by Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki. Darui possesses significant chakra reserves and stamina, as evidenced by his ability to use three of the powerful Treasured Tools of the Sage of Six Paths without succumbing to exhaustion. He had enough chakra to continue fighting effectively even after using these tools.

Nature Transformation

Darui is skilled in wind, water, and lightning nature transformations. He has the ability to trap enemies in a water wall and electrify them by channeling lightning through it. Additionally, he can enhance his weapons with Lightning Release, enabling him to cut through metal blades. By combining his water and lightning abilities, Darui can utilize Storm Release, shooting guided beams of light like missiles. He possesses a unique form of lightning called black lightning, which was passed down to him by his teacher, the Third Raikage. This black lightning makes his lightning techniques even more powerful. With it, Darui can use techniques like Lightning Release: Black Panther to immobilize or eliminate multiple enemies. In the anime, he can further enhance the technique by employing a shadow clone.

Kenjutsu

Darui typically wields a unique sword that folds in two when sheathed and unfolds when used. He possesses impressive kenjutsu skills, as demonstrated by his ability to clash with Suigetsu's powerful Kubikiribōchō and defeat him by pinning him to a wall using his lightning-infused sword. Darui also showcased his skill by disarming Ginkaku and Kinkaku during their fight. He swiftly knocked Ginkaku into Kinkaku's Kōkinjō while seizing the Shichiseiken and Benihisago.
