Akatsuki: Deidara The Terrorist Bomber

Deidara was a powerful ninja from Iwagakure who became a missing-nin. He was originally part of the Explosion Corps in his village. However, he left the village and joined the dangerous organization called Akatsuki. Deidara became the youngest member of Akatsuki and was first partnered with Sasori. After Sasori's death, he was partnered with Tobi until he died himself.

Background

During his time in Iwagakure, Deidara learned from Ōnoki and used his unique Explosion Release ability as a member of the Explosion Corps. Seeking to improve his art, he stole a forbidden jutsu from his village that allowed him to infuse chakra into substances. Using explosive clay to escape from his pursuers, he discovered the Art of a Single Moment that he desired. Becoming a missing-nin, he offered his services as a bomber to insurgents in different countries. Akatsuki noticed Deidara's achievements and sent Itachi, Kisame, and Sasori to recruit him. After losing to Itachi, Deidara reluctantly joined Akatsuki and partnered with Sasori. Their first mission was to eliminate Orochimaru, but they couldn't confirm his death. Deidara later destroyed his own village and carried a deep hatred towards Itachi and his Sharingan. He trained his left eye to counter genjutsu and developed techniques like C4 to seek revenge on Itachi.

Personality

Deidara had a calm and relaxed attitude during his partnership with Sasori, never losing his smirk even in intense battles. However, his personality changed somewhat when he teamed up with Tobi, as he would easily get angry at Tobi's childish and disrespectful behavior. Deidara had a sadistic side and enjoyed fighting, often blowing up his opponents in a brutal manner. His love for art was his most notable trait, respecting all forms of art even if they differed from his own. Deidara had a habit of ending his sentences with nasal grunts and referred to his explosive ninjutsu as art. He saw each bomb he created as a significant accomplishment and boasted about his works even during battles. While he respected Sasori as a fellow artist, they frequently argued about the nature of true art. His partnership with Tobi was different, as Tobi showed great respect for Deidara but also irritated him with his foolish behavior. However, in battle, Deidara put aside his issues with Tobi and worked well with him. There was a sense of appreciation for Tobi, as Deidara apologized to him before initiating his self-destruction technique.

Abilities

Deidara, an exceptionally powerful missing-nin, gained recognition within Akatsuki for his impressive abilities. Even the leader of the organization, Pain, acknowledged Deidara's uniqueness and considered his loss to be a significant setback. Deidara demonstrated his strength by defeating Gaara, who was the jinchūriki of Shukaku and the Fifth Kazekage, as well as Isobu, while fighting them in their own territories. He also engaged in a fierce battle with Sasuke Uchiha, a prodigy from the Uchiha clan, despite his techniques being disadvantaged against Sasuke's elemental abilities.

Intelligence

Deidara's intelligence was a notable strength, as he employed various tactics, deception, and calculated risks to bring his explosives within range of his opponents. He showcased these abilities in his fights against Gaara, strategically placing clay within Gaara's sand to damage his arm. In his battle with Sasuke, Deidara successfully tricked him multiple times, such as using a combination of his C2 dragon and hidden landmines to trap Sasuke, and luring him into his devastating C4 attack at close range. In the anime, Deidara even devised a clever solution to counter his vulnerability to Lightning Release attacks by using a sword as a makeshift lightning rod to neutralize their impact on his explosive clay.

Ninjutsu

Deidara had shown some skill with the Shadow Clone Technique, incorporating it into some of his techniques, such as the Suicide Bombing Clone.

Nature Transformation and Explosive Clay

Deidara possessed the unique Explosion Release kekkei genkai, which allowed him to infuse his chakra with explosive qualities by combining earth and lightning chakra natures. With special mouths on his palms and chest, obtained through stealing a powerful forbidden technique, Deidara could create explosive clay. By molding and controlling this clay, he could shape it into various forms and sizes, ranging from microscopic to gigantic. Deidara could create clones and minions from the clay, detonating them as surprise attacks or using them for strategic purposes. He could even turn himself into a massive bomb as a last resort. Additionally, Deidara used the clay to create birds for transportation and had knowledge of earth-based techniques. However, his explosives were susceptible to lightning-based attacks, which could defuse them.

Eye Enhancement

Deidara wore a scope on his left eye for long-range observation and had trained his eye to counter genjutsu. By doing so, he could see through and nullify genjutsu, causing his pupil to contract. He underwent this training specifically to counter Itachi's powerful genjutsu, as he had a strong dislike for Itachi and aimed to defeat him. Additionally, Deidara demonstrated the ability to see long distances even without his scope, as he was able to spot enemy shinobi near Tobi's hideout after being reincarnated. However, he still needed to close his right eye in order to use the long-distance vision of his left eye.

Physical Prowess

Deidara had impressive stealth skills, allowing him to sneak up on two Anbu members from Konoha while they were on a scouting mission. He also had exceptional reaction speed, enabling him to evade Sasuke's fast attacks. Furthermore, Deidara demonstrated considerable strength by using his legs to remove the Fūma Shuriken that had pierced and pinned his arms.
