Tailed Beasts: Gyuki The Eight Tails

Gyūki, also known as the Eight-Tails, is one of the nine tailed beasts. It has been held by Kumogakure for many years and has been sealed inside multiple jinchūriki. The current jinchūriki, Killer B, is the first to successfully cooperate with Gyūki.

Background

Gyūki, along with the other tailed beasts, was created by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki using his special technique. He divided the chakra of the Ten-Tails into nine separate beings and gave each a name. The Sage explained to the young tailed beasts that they were connected despite being separated, and he predicted that they would reunite in the future to discover true power. Before his death, Hagoromo sent Gyūki to live in a temple for protection in the Land of Lightning. Hashirama Senju later captured eight of the tailed beasts and sold Gyūki and Matatabi to Kumogakure as a gesture of friendship and to maintain a balance of power among the villages. Throughout the years, Gyūki had several jinchūriki, but none could control its power, causing destruction and loss of life in the village. The Third Raikage believed having a jinchūriki for Gyūki was important and formed a coalition to subdue and seal it. Eventually, Gyūki was sealed within Killer B when he was young, and through training and friendship, B learned to control and befriend Gyūki.

Personality

Gyūki, also known as the Eight-Tails, has a tough and serious personality. It refers to itself as "ore" and speaks in a somewhat rude dialect. Despite its initial dislike for Kurama, Gyūki displayed a helpful and analytical side when it assisted Naruto in controlling Kurama's power. In the past, Gyūki had a reputation for being wild and violent, going on rampages when its previous jinchūriki lost control. However, after being sealed within B, Gyūki's personality became more relaxed, and it developed a close friendship with B. Although Gyūki sometimes gets annoyed by B's antics, they have a strong bond. Gyūki often reprimands B and takes responsibility more seriously. Gyūki formed a positive relationship with Blue B, its predecessor, in the anime.

Abilities

Gyūki is recognized as the second most powerful tailed beast by Kisame and Kurama. It posed a significant challenge even for the Third Raikage, who had to form a special team to subdue and seal it during its rampages. The Fourth Raikage also prohibited B from fully transforming into Gyūki because of its immense power. In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Gyūki displayed its strength by holding its ground against two other tailed beasts, despite a previous injury.

Chakra and Physical Prowess

Gyūki, as a tailed beast, possesses a vast amount of chakra that it can share with others. It has the ability to replenish its chakra quickly after using it for an entire day. Additionally, Gyūki can disrupt B's chakra to break powerful genjutsu if necessary. It can utilize its severed tentacles as a medium for chakra, such as creating clones or transferring chakra to its host. In terms of strength, Gyūki is incredibly powerful and can restrain Kurama, contain its Tailed Beast Ball, and overpower multiple tailed beasts at once. It is also surprisingly fast, able to strike swiftly with its tentacles and defend against attacks like Amaterasu. With sharp horns, it can easily impale humans, and it has great durability, surviving its own Tailed Beast Ball and withstanding powerful attacks. It can create tornadoes by spinning its tentacles and use them for defense, even against massive threats like the Ten-Tails. However, its tentacles can be severed by strong and sharp attacks.

Ninjutsu

Gyūki has the ability to use the Tailed Beast Ball, which it can unleash in different ways. It can fire the ball normally, in quick succession, or as a massive wave. The power of its Tailed Beast Ball is immense, capable of causing widespread devastation in a valley, piercing through multiple barriers without detonating, and even pushing back the Ten-Tails' own Tailed Beast Ball. What makes Gyūki unique is its ability to supercharge the Tailed Beast Ball, creating one much larger than itself for even greater destructive power. In addition to its Tailed Beast Ball, Gyūki can utilize ink as a weapon. It can produce ink to blind its enemies or create ink clones to trap and seal them.

Intelligence

Gyūki is a highly intelligent tailed beast and shows strategic thinking during battles. It provides guidance to B, advising him on how to counter Kisame's techniques. It possesses extensive knowledge about the Tailed Beast Ball and even explains the initial constraints of Naruto's Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. Additionally, Gyūki demonstrates keen perceptiveness. By observing Naruto sensing Kurama's chakra from outside the Tailed Beast Temple, it accurately deduces that the Gold and Silver Brothers were revived through Orochimaru's forbidden jutsu in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
