Akatsuki: Kisame Hoshigaki Tailed Beast without a Tail

Kisame Hoshigaki, known as the Monster of the Hidden Mist, was a powerful ninja from the Hoshigaki Clan in Kirigakure. He became a dangerous outlaw after leaving his village and joining a group called the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. He later became partners with Itachi Uchiha when Itachi joined a group called Akatsuki.

Background

Kisame was originally assigned to guard the Cypher Division by his superior, Fuguki Suikazan. During a mission, they were cornered by Konoha-nin, and Kisame decided to kill the Cypher Division members to protect their secrets. Later, Kisame discovered that Fuguki was selling information to other ninja villages and killed him, taking the weapon Samehada. This act made him question the truth and he was approached by a mysterious person named Madara Uchiha who shared his plans for a "world of truth." Kisame joined the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and became known as the "Monster of the Hidden Mist." He eventually left Kirigakure, joined the Akatsuki, and was partnered with Itachi. They recruited Deidara after a successful mission.

Personality

Kisame is a sadistic and aggressive fighter who enjoys mutilating his opponents. He is perceptive and quick to react in battles, but his partner Itachi often prevents him from finishing fights. Despite their differences, Kisame and Itachi get along well and share a history of betraying those close to them. Kisame is loyal to Itachi and follows his orders without question. He deeply loathes Might Guy and feels agitated when Guy doesn't remember him. Kisame is devastated by Itachi's death and considers him a good friend. He joins the Eye of the Moon plan due to his disillusionment with the world and his belief that his life has been a lie. Kisame has a playful and morbid sense of humor and mocks his opponents. He is honest, humble, and appreciative towards his comrades. Kisame values protecting valuable information and sees it as his purpose in life. He chooses to die by assisted suicide when he has no other choice.

Abilities

Kisame was a highly skilled shinobi who was part of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and later joined Akatsuki. He easily defeated his former master, who was considered one of the strongest members of the Seven Swordsmen. Kisame was known for his ability to capture targets alive and demonstrated this by successfully capturing the jinchūriki Rōshi. He also showed great strength by overpowering Killer B and was able to fight against an elite team by himself, even with reduced strength. Kisame proved to be a formidable opponent for Guy, a top shinobi from Konoha, forcing Guy to use powerful techniques to try and defeat him.

Chakra and Physical Prowess

Kisame had an enormous amount of chakra, surpassing that of other members of Akatsuki, and his chakra reserves were compared to those of Naruto. This, combined with his weapon Samehada, earned him the nickname "Tailed Beast without a Tail." He had the ability to absorb chakra, demonstrated by his interaction with Samehada and his ability to reverse a paralyzing technique. Kisame possessed incredible physical strength and speed, using powerful strikes and slashes in combat. He could overpower skilled fighters like Asuma and Guy. Kisame was also extremely durable, surviving devastating attacks from Killer B and Guy, and even breaking free from chakra-suppressing restraints.

Ninjutsu

Kenjutsu

Kisame was a highly skilled swordsman who preferred using brute strength and close combat in battles. Initially, he used a regular katana and demonstrated proficiency by killing all his comrades on a mission. However, after defeating his master, he acquired Samehada, a unique sword covered in scales that can shave flesh and absorb chakra. Samehada can grow its scales and unwrap itself when it absorbs chakra, revealing shark-like teeth. Kisame could heal himself and restore chakra by temporarily merging with Samehada. When fully fused, he gained additional powers and transformed into a more shark-like appearance, including the ability to breathe underwater and sense chakra. Kisame could also hide within Samehada, making it difficult for sensors to detect him. Only Kisame could wield Samehada, as it showed loyalty to him based on his chakra. However, if it encountered a ninja with stronger chakra, it might betray Kisame. Samehada was regarded as the most fearsome sword among the Seven Ninja Swordsmen blades.

Nature Transformation

Kisame was highly skilled in Water Release techniques, using them to manipulate the battlefield and launch water-based attacks. He could create a large volume of water to gain an advantage and shape his attacks into shark-like forms. Kisame could even ride inside a water shark for transportation. To further enhance his advantage, he could create a massive water dome, forcing opponents to fight him underwater. His water-based attacks were powerful enough to overwhelm even strong opponents like Guy. Additionally, Kisame had proficiency in Earth, Fire, and Wind Release techniques, using them for various purposes such as traveling underground and wielding multiple elemental powers.

Summoning Technique

Staying true to his shark motif, Kisame had the power to summon sharks for combat and communication. He could merge a summoned shark with the Water Release: A Thousand Feeding Sharks technique, concealing the location of the messenger shark and enabling its safe escape. Additionally, Kisame utilized sharks in combination with the Water Prison Technique as a means of taking his own life.
