Akatsuki: Obito Uchiha a.k.a Madara

Obito Uchiha was a member of the Uchiha clan in the village of Konohagakure. He was thought to have died in a war but was actually saved by Madara and trained by him. Obito became disillusioned with reality and adopted Madara's plan to create a perfect world. He took on the identities of Tobi and Madara Uchiha, secretly manipulating the Akatsuki group to further his own goals. Obito eventually revealed himself and started the Fourth Shinobi World War. However, towards the end of the war, Obito had a change of heart and sacrificed his life to save the world he had wanted to replace, as a way to make amends for his actions.

Background

Early life

Obito had a difficult childhood and was raised by his grandmother. He felt lonely and wanted to become the Hokage, hoping it would make people notice him. He joined the Ninja Academy where he envied Kakashi's natural talent and popularity. Obito also became friends with Rin and developed feelings for her. After graduating, they were put on a team led by Minato. During a mission, Rin was captured, and Obito wanted to save her while Kakashi prioritized completing the mission. Obito left alone but was attacked and lost his eye. Kakashi arrived in time to save him but lost his own eye. Obito gave Kakashi his Sharingan as an apology and became trapped in a collapsing cave. Obito accepted his fate and sacrificed himself to save Kakashi and Rin. He was memorialized in the village as a hero.

Saved from Death

In reality, Obito was saved by White Zetsu on the orders of an elderly Madara. He was taken to the Mountains' Graveyard where his injuries were treated. Some of his severely damaged body parts were replaced with limbs made from the cells of Hashirama Senju. Obito's right Sharingan remained intact. Despite feeling scared of Madara, Obito felt grateful to him for saving his life and was willing to help him in return. Obito went through a long process of rehabilitation and training with the help of White Zetsu and Guruguru, a spiral-faced Zetsu. Obito wanted to recover quickly so he could go back to Konoha and assist his friends and the village during the ongoing war. During his recovery, White Zetsu informed Obito that Kakashi and Rin were in danger of being killed by Kirigakure ninjas. Obito was determined to help them and set off with Guruguru's assistance. He found Rin and Kakashi surrounded by enemies, and in a moment of tragedy, Kakashi accidentally killed Rin. This event triggered the awakening of their Mangekyō Sharingan. Enraged by Rin's death, Obito used his newfound powers to eliminate the Kirigakure ninjas. Obito returned to Mountains' Graveyard, pledging his loyalty to Madara and agreeing to help him fulfill his plan to create a world without violence and death. Madara shared his knowledge and plans with Obito and passed on his belongings and Black Zetsu as a guide. Madara asked Obito to act as Madara Uchiha until his own revival.

Moving the Plan Forward

Under the disguise of Madara, Obito worked secretly to gather the necessary components for the Eye of the Moon Plan. After Madara's death, Obito approached the Akatsuki and offered them support in creating a peaceful world. His true intention was to use Nagato, who possessed Madara's implanted Rinnegan, for the final stages of the plan. Obito manipulated events and eventually convinced Nagato to lead the Akatsuki in capturing the tailed beasts. Taking on the alias of "Tobi," Obito concealed his true identity and took control of the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi, in Kirigakure. He also recruited Kisame Hoshigaki and learned about the circumstances of Rin's death, which led to Kakashi killing her. Twelve years prior, Obito kidnapped Naruto as a baby but was stopped by Minato, who branded him with a seal. Obito later attacked the Fire Daimyō's convoy and manipulated the Uchiha clan into planning a coup. He made a deal with Itachi, posing as Madara, to spare the village in exchange for helping Itachi eliminate the Uchiha clan. Obito accepted Itachi into Akatsuki and continued his actions in secret.

Personality

Obito's childhood was filled with a longing for acknowledgement since he didn't know his parents. He aspired to become a ninja and eventually the Hokage to gain recognition from the village. However, his feelings intensified when his classmate Kakashi and the girl he loved, Rin, grew closer. Obito developed a rivalry with Kakashi and became more focused after Rin's death. He abandoned his previous ideals and devoted himself to Madara's plan for a new world. Obito manipulated others to serve his purpose, including recruiting members to Akatsuki. His actions were driven by a conflicted mix of past and present desires. Obito took an interest in Sasuke and Naruto, hoping to sway them to his side. However, he eventually realized the truth and fought against Madara to protect Naruto and the world. In order to conceal his true identity, Obito adopted the persona of Tobi, a carefree and humorous character.

Abilities

Obito started off as an average genin with skills below his classmates. However, he was determined to improve and trained hard to become a chūnin. Madara recognized Obito's potential and became his mentor, leading to significant growth in Obito's abilities. As a teenager, Obito became a formidable threat, taking control of the Fourth Mizukage and Kirigakure. He also posed a challenge to the Fourth Hokage and nearly destroyed Konoha. In adulthood, Obito defeated skilled ninjas from Root and held his own against top shinobi from Konoha and Killer B. As the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki, Obito's power surpassed that of Hashirama Senju. He effortlessly fought three powerful Hokage, dominated Naruto and Sasuke multiple times, and had the potential to destroy the entire Allied Shinobi Forces.

Chakra and Physical Prowess

Obito's chakra reserves were boosted by the White Zetsu matter integrated into his body, allowing him to use multiple chakra-demanding techniques without getting tired easily. He demonstrated the ability to absorb chakra and share his own chakra with others. In terms of combat skills, Obito was skilled in taijutsu and could match Kakashi in their fights, even manipulating the outcomes. He possessed great physical strength and speed, capable of lifting Konan with one hand despite being injured, impaling opponents with his arm, and keeping up with Naruto's Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.

Body Modifications

During a mission in Kusagakure, Obito suffered severe injuries to the right side of his body, resulting in the loss of his right arm. To restore his body and provide a replacement limb, Madara used the same material found in White Zetsu to augment Obito. This not only enhanced his chakra capacity but also granted him the ability to use Wood Release. Additionally, Obito acquired physical enhancements from Hashirama Senju's DNA, including increased durability, rapid healing, and the ability to survive without food or water. His artificial limb was incredibly strong, capable of enduring attacks and smashing through solid boulders. If the limb was ever irreparably damaged, it could be easily replaced with the same material.

Ninjutsu

Under Madara's guidance, Obito acquired a diverse range of ninjutsu skills. He gained the ability to create barrier ninjutsu, utilizing the Uchiha Flame Formation to safeguard the Demonic Statue. Obito also developed chakra sensing, enabling him to anticipate attacks and locate individuals from long distances, even across different dimensions. Furthermore, he mastered potent fūinjutsu techniques capable of sealing the mighty Ten-Tails.

Nature Transformation

Obito possessed the ability to use all five basic nature transformations, as well as Yin-Yang Release. Being an Uchiha, he naturally excelled in Fire Release techniques and could perform the Great Fireball Technique from a young age. As he grew older, his flames became more powerful, and by combining them with his Mangekyō Sharingan, he could unleash the Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance. On certain occasions, Obito also demonstrated proficiency in Earth Release techniques, mainly utilizing them to navigate underground and surprise his enemies. With his replacement limbs made of White Zetsu matter, he gained the power of Wood Release, a combination of earth and water chakra. He could instinctively generate branches and roots to restrain, crush, or impale opponents. Additionally, due to the White Zetsu material's connection to Hashirama Senju's DNA, Obito could control the Ten-Tails when linked to its body.

Bukijutsu

Similar to other Uchiha, Obito received training in shurikenjutsu, allowing him to accurately throw shuriken for both offense and defense. After Madara's death, Obito inherited several weapons that he used throughout the years. Some of these weapons were stored within the dimension of his Kamui ability, enabling him to retrieve them instantly and launch them at his enemies. These included large shuriken and chakra receivers that he transformed into massive restraining stakes. In his battle against Minato, he utilized a long chain connected to braces on his wrists, allowing him to pass through his opponent harmlessly by becoming intangible and then solidifying to restrain him with the chain. Obito also carried a sword during the Uchiha Massacre, and during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he wielded Madara's distinctive gunbai, using it as a shield and a weapon that could generate wind to deflect attacks.

Dōjutsu

Sharingan

When Obito first unlocked his Sharingan, it already had two tomoe, granting him the ability to track chakra and predict movements. After witnessing Rin's death, he gained a third tomoe in his Sharingan. Obito could keep his Sharingan active constantly without it draining his chakra noticeably. With his Sharingan, he could use genjutsu on targets he made eye contact with, creating illusions, gathering information, or controlling their actions. Although he could control six tailed beasts with his Sharingan, his control over multiple targets was not as strong as with a single target, and some could break free from his influence. Obito possessed additional Sharingan that he kept in storage. He used one of these Sharingan to replace the eye he gave to Kakashi, keeping it covered with his mask most of the time. He later sacrificed the vision of this spare eye to perform Izanagi, a technique that allows manipulation of events. With Hashirama's DNA, Obito could prolong Izanagi for ten minutes using a single eye, although it normally lasts only for a very short time.

Mangekyō Sharingan

After witnessing Rin's death, Obito and Kakashi both awakened their Mangekyō Sharingan, characterized by a pinwheel-like design. Unlike other Mangekyō users, Obito did not experience any negative effects from its use. His Mangekyō granted him the ability to perform Kamui, a versatile space-time ninjutsu. Kamui allowed Obito to teleport himself or objects to another dimension and make himself intangible, allowing attacks to pass through him. He primarily used Kamui defensively and offensively, teleporting opponents to his dimension while they were disoriented. However, he could not use teleportation and intangibility simultaneously. Kakashi's Sharingan, which also had Kamui, served as the only reliable counter to Obito's abilities. Kakashi could teleport attacks or allies to the other dimension to bypass Obito's defenses. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Obito regained the Sharingan he gave to Kakashi, granting him rapid long-distance teleportation without physical contact. He could also use his left Mangekyō to access other dimensional planes with effort.

Rinnegan

After acquiring Nagato's Rinnegan, Obito implanted it in his left eye socket, gaining significant power from it. Despite only using one eye and not being its original owner, Obito was able to perform all of the Six Paths Techniques associated with the Rinnegan. However, he mainly utilized abilities related to the Outer Path. With the Rinnegan, Obito could summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, create chakra chains to restrain targets, and use the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique to bring back the dead at the cost of his own life. Obito also employed the Rinnegan to create his version of the Six Paths of Pain, consisting of the reincarnated jinchūriki. By controlling them through chakra receivers, he shared their vision and coordinated their movements. However, the coordination required to control the jinchūriki and maintain control over the tailed beasts prevented Obito from manifesting the other Six Paths Techniques through his Six Paths of Pain.

Intelligence

Obito gained extensive knowledge from Madara, which made it difficult to surprise him in combat. He was familiar with various ninja tactics, weaknesses of different opponents, and how to counter most jutsu. Even when faced with something new, he remained composed and observed carefully until he devised the best strategy to overcome it. Obito's foresight allowed him to plan years ahead, accurately predicting and manipulating the course of nations to his advantage. He possessed tremendous strategic and tactical ingenuity, always having multiple backup plans in case of failure. Obito was also skilled in manipulation, adept at exploiting the darkness in others and using a clever mix of truth and lies to further his own agenda. By assuming the identity of Madara Uchiha, he wielded significant influence, with the world taking his declarations seriously, as demonstrated by the initiation of the Fourth Great Shinobi War.

Jinchūriki Transformations

After sealing the Ten-Tails into his body during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Obito experienced a transformation. His physical abilities greatly improved, becoming stronger, faster, and highly resistant to damage. At first, he struggled to control his mind and was overwhelmed by the Ten-Tails' chakra, reacting aggressively to any threat. However, once he regained control, Obito surpassed the original Ten-Tails in strength, harnessing its immense power. He gained the ability to fly, create chakra arms, and generate trees to launch Tailed Beast Balls. He also controlled the Ten-Tails' tree form to prepare for casting the Infinite Tsukuyomi. However, as a jinchūriki, Obito couldn't utilize Kamui's intangibility.

Truth-Seeking Ball

As the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki, Obito possessed the ability to use powerful orbs called Truth-Seeking Balls. These black orbs contained all five elemental nature transformations and Yin-Yang Release. Obito could shape the malleable chakra into various forms, such as projectiles, barriers, explosives, and weapons like the Sage of the Six Paths' shakujō. He could even recreate the destructive Sword of Nunoboko. With complete control over the Ten-Tails' power, Obito could nullify any ninjutsu that came into contact with the balls using Yin-Yang Release. Additionally, he had a unique ability to enlarge the Truth-Seeking Ball by passing it through holes in his hand. After the Ten-Tails' extraction, Obito could still manifest a single Truth-Seeking Ball by absorbing some of Madara's power.
