Seven Ninja Swordsmen of The Mist: Zabuza Momochi

Zabuza Momochi, given the moniker Demon of the Hidden Mist, was a missing-nin from Kirigakure's Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

Background

Before the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi, became the leader, the Hidden Mist Village had a practice where graduates from the academy fought to the death as a final exam. The best students were chosen to be part of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Zabuza, who was not yet a student, killed many academy students and gained a reputation as the "Demon of the Hidden Mist." He later became an Anbu and joined the Seven Swordsmen. He discovered Haku, a child with special abilities, and trained him. Zabuza and Haku witnessed an attack on their village but chose not to help. They encountered Kimimaro, a survivor of the attack, but Zabuza forced Haku to leave him alone. During the Fourth Mizukage's rule, Zabuza disagreed with the village's ways and attempted a coup against the Mizukage but was betrayed. He left the village with Haku and others, working as mercenaries to gather funds for another attempt. Some of his followers became disillusioned and left.

Personality

According to Zabuza's former follower, Gengo, Zabuza was once seen as a charismatic and inspiring leader who dreamt of a society where shinobi ruled. This dream motivated his failed coup against the Fourth Mizukage, whom he disagreed with. However, after the coup, Zabuza became bitter and cynical, turning into a ruthless hitman who would work for corrupt individuals. Zabuza was aggressive, cruel, and ambitious, willing to do whatever it took to gain power, including plotting to kill his employer once he had enough money. He earned the nickname "Demon of the Hidden Mist" for killing all the candidates in Kirigakure's Academy. Zabuza saw people, including shinobi, as tools to be used for his own purposes. Despite this, he cared deeply for Haku, whom he raised but also saw as more than just a tool. Zabuza was observant in battle and could analyze his opponents' techniques, but he could become overconfident if he deemed their techniques useless. After Haku's death, Zabuza realized his true feelings and sacrificed his life to kill Gatō, wanting to join Haku in the afterlife. He had a sense of honor and despised those who used the dead for their own gain.

Abilities

Zabuza, a former elite ninja from Kiri, was a formidable fighter. His skill in combat was evident from a young age when he defeated over a hundred trained students despite not yet being part of the Academy. Even as an adult, when he was severely injured and had both arms crippled, Zabuza remained a dangerous opponent. He was able to defeat numerous highly trained men hired by Gatō, as well as Gatō himself.

Physical and Chakra Prowess

Zabuza was not only physically strong but also skilled in various combat techniques. He could effortlessly handle the large Kubikiribōchō sword with one hand and was extremely fast in both movement and hand-to-hand combat. Even with the loss of both his arms, he fought off and killed many of Gatō's men using well-coordinated kicks and a kunai held in his mouth. Zabuza displayed remarkable stamina and endurance, continuing to fight effectively despite his injuries. He could endure powerful attacks and recover quickly. Zabuza was also a master of stealth and assassination, known for his ability to kill opponents in situations with zero visibility. He had exceptional chakra, which could be seen as a demonic aura, and even a single glare from him instilled fear in his enemies. He also had advanced control over his chakra, allowing him to perform multiple techniques simultaneously.

Ninjutsu

Kenjutsu

Zabuza was a highly skilled swordsman and a member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, a group of elite swordsmen in Kirigakure. He wielded a large sword called the Kubikiribōchō, known for its ability to absorb iron from the blood of those it cuts. Zabuza was a master at using this sword and could defeat multiple enemies with just a few strikes. The weight of the sword did not slow him down, and he could use it in combat for long periods without tiring. He was also skilled in throwing the sword with great force. In addition to his sword, Zabuza used a kunai with a sharp protrusion for thrusting and stabbing, which suited his stealthy style of fighting. He could also use fūma shuriken, spinning them in his hand for melee attacks.

Nature Transformation

Zabuza had excellent mastery over Water Release techniques. He could simultaneously use multiple water techniques, such as trapping Kakashi in the Water Prison Technique while attacking Team 7 with a water clone. He could create and control several water clones at once, using them to distract his opponents. Zabuza was skilled in unleashing powerful water attacks, like shooting dragon bullets and creating massive waterfalls to overwhelm his enemies. His expertise in the Hiding in Mist Technique made his Silent Killing even more effective. By enveloping the area in thick mist, Zabuza could blind his targets, making it harder for them to defend against him. He could disappear from sight and launch surprise attacks, even in open spaces, thanks to his exceptional mastery of the technique. Zabuza's proficiency with the Hiding in Mist Technique was highly regarded by others, including Kabuto Yakushi, who was willing to protect Zabuza and maintain the mist even at the expense of other reincarnated shinobi.

Intelligence

In addition to his preference for direct attacks, Zabuza was skilled at using misdirection and had a deep understanding of the human body's weak points and pressure points, which he learned during his time as an Anbu. He was knowledgeable about various foreign techniques and kekkei genkai, including recognizing and understanding the Sharingan and the Shadow Clone Technique. Zabuza was also an effective teacher, as he trained and guided Haku, who became a strong shinobi despite being young.
