Tailed Beasts: Chomei The Seven Tails

Chōmei, more commonly known as the Seven-Tails, is one of the nine tailed beasts. It was last sealed within Fū from Takigakure.

Background

Chōmei and the other tailed beasts were created by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki using his special technique. He separated the powerful chakra of the Ten-Tails into nine different creatures and gave them names. Despite being separated, the Sage told the young tailed beasts that they were connected and would eventually come together again. He also predicted that someone would emerge to show them true power. In the anime, before his death, Hagoromo sent Chōmei to live in a temple in a forest covered in mosses for protection. Chōmei became affiliated with Takigakure, a village known for producing skilled jōnin, which made it the only tailed beast not belonging to the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Many years later, Chōmei was sealed within Fū.

Personality

Chōmei has a cheerful and carefree personality, which it shares with its jinchūriki. When it introduced itself to Naruto, it referred to itself as "Lucky Seven Chōmei," possibly because it has seven tails and the number seven is often associated with luck and happiness. Chōmei has a habit of using the word "lucky" in conversations, which reflects its upbeat nature.

Abilities

Chōmei, as a tailed beast, has a tremendous amount of chakra that it can share with others and can unleash a powerful attack called the Tailed Beast Ball. It possesses wings and can release blinding powder, as well as fly in the air. Chōmei uses insect-based attacks like biting and ramming with its horn. In the anime, it has the ability to create a Cocoon that can slow down Chakra Absorption Techniques. Chōmei also has remarkable durability, as it can endure being forcefully slammed into the ground by Kurama.
